Camp Caleb’s mission is “to bring military youth into an authentic personal relationship with Jesus Christ, to strengthen their own family and peer relationships, and to prepare them for standing for Jesus Christ as teenagers.” We accomplish this through Christ-centered teaching times, experiential learning, counselor-child relationships, and peer sharing/ encouragement. At Camp Caleb our passion is to spiritually equip children to face the struggles of modern day society.

Throughout the week, Camp Caleb enjoys such activities as climbing wall, high ropes course, swimming, riflery/archery, canoeing, fort-building, obstacle course, field games, camp store, and so much more! While often described as a really fun week, incorporating God, devotions, worship and making connections into the week is what makes it so much more significant.

Camp Caleb is broken down into groups based on age:

  • Camp Caleb Day Camp: rising 2nd and 3rd graders (for children of hotel guests)
  • Camp Caleb Junior: rising 3rd and 4th graders
  • Camp Caleb Adventure: rising 5th and 6th graders
  • Camp Caleb Challenge: for rising 7th and 8th graders

Camp Caleb Junior, Adventure, and Challenge all have the same drop-off time of 3:30 p.m. Sunday at the Heritage House portico. The Camp Caleb closing ceremony will take place at 11:15 a.m. Friday. Campers will be dismissed to parents around noon directly following the ceremony, so parents are greatly encouraged to attend and experience the ceremony.

2025 dates & rates

There are two rates for camp: military and non-military, and there is no wait list for non-military. All registrations are first come, first served. Military campers are defined as children of active duty service members, reservists, or retired military families. In the ever-changing life of the military child, kids put down roots and pull them up again as fast as the military moves your family. It is our privilege to be a constant home for the many military children that attend our camps, so we’ve created lower pricing to make it easier to get your kids here. The military rate does not cover the full cost of your child’s camp experience, but if you would like to choose to pay the full cost for camp, your gift will greatly help our camps thrive. Thanks!

Camp Caleb FAQs

Our most popular weeks, especially the weeks when we offer programs for all three age groups, can fill up very quickly. Our weeks have previously filled up within a few months of opening registration. The earlier you register, the better! While we do offer a waitlist for programs that have filled up, spots rarely open up. We encourage campers to register early or for a different week instead to make sure that they don’t miss the opportunity to attend camp that summer!

We use UltraCamp (the same website used for camp registration) for electronic health records to ensure the best care possible for campers. You’ll need to bring the original prescription bottles with you to camp so our medical volunteer can confirm the dosage amounts and times. If you have liquids, inhalers, or EpiPens, you’ll need to bring them in their original packaging, sealed together in a plastic bag, labeled with your camper’s name. When you arrive at camp on Sunday, you’ll need to turn in your medications at the health check-in.

Drop-off is at 3:30 p.m. on Sunday under the portico of Heritage House. The Camp Caleb closing ceremony will take place at Heritage lawn at 11:15 a.m. on Friday. Parents are greatly encouraged to attend and experience the ceremony. Campers will be dismissed to parents around noon directly after the ceremony.

The Camp Caleb Closing Ceremony is a time at the end of camp for parents to have a quick snapshot of what the camper’s week was like. You will get to hear their verse, what they have been studying, and a few other surprises. Campers will be dismissed to parents at the end of the ceremony. Ceremony will start at 11:15 a.m. Friday. Both Camp Caleb and AO! will completely end by noon Friday. Friday lunch is NOT included in the AO! or Camp Caleb registration. If you want to stay for lunch, please contact the front office by the Wednesday before camp ends.

A packing list is sent out electronically, the week prior to the start of camp. You can view the packing list by clicking here.

Similar to your experience at Heritage House, your camper will be provided with plenty of food. Campers will also get two opportunities to go to the camp store and purchase snacks. Due to allergies and safety reasons, we cannot have snacks in the cabins. Please do not send snacks with your camper. Please call the camp prior to registration if you feel you may need to bring food to camp.

Each camper visits the camp store twice during a week of camp. Campers may purchase various items from ice cream and candy to toys and backpacks.

While we allow extra money to go toward the camp store, we encourage electronically putting this money in UltraCamp to prevent campers from losing cash. Campers have an opportunity to add money to their UltraCamp account during check-in on Sunday.

Day Camp is a single day for children in second and third grade to experience a day in the life of a Camp Caleb attendee. Day campers will check in to camp on Thursday under the Heritage Portico at 9:30 a.m. and will return to parents at approximately 7:15 p.m. that same day. Day campers will eat lunch and dinner with Camp Caleb and experience several camp activities including fort building, crafts, creek time, and more.

Campers are divided by gender and age groups: Junior (rising 3rd & 4th graders), Adventure (rising 5th & 6th graders), and Challenge (rising 7th & 8th graders). These groups are the campers’ cabin group. Cabin groups have devotions, meals and activities together. They will see and interact with other cabin groups. Each cabin group will have a main counselor and an assistant counselor.

Campers registered for the same age group who are the same gender will automatically room together.

Our cabins are cozy, rustic, and well-maintained. All cabins have electricity and screened windows for fresh breezes. Campers sleep in twin-sized wooden bunk beds. All cabins are within eyesight of the bathrooms.

Campers will be on the same property as R&R guest during the week. You may see your camper in passing, but we ask that you keep interactions to a minimum to help prevent homesickness. Two times during the week, campers will participate in R&R events to allow campers to see their parents. These “touch-points” with your camper(s) are square dancing on Wednesday and picnic lunch on Thursday.

We partner with Waldo Photos to offer facial recognition photo delivery! That means you can get all your camper’s photos delivered to your phone. No more late-night photo hunting! You submit a photo of your camper’s face and enroll in the service. Waldo does the rest by matching that photo to all the photos in our camp album and sending you all your camper’s photos to your phone via the Waldo App. You will receive more information about this program in an email sent out a week before camp.

While each cabin has their own schedule and activities for the day, meals are served in the same pavilion. Throughout the week campers will also complete various activities together with other cabins.

We ask that all electronics be left at home, including watches, alarm clocks and cell phones. If we discover a camper with any of these items, Camp Caleb counselors or the Camp Caleb coordinator will hang onto these items for the week. We maintain this policy to ensure that each camper is fully able to focus on camp and all it has to offer. All items will be returned at the end of the week to the camper.

Our counselors consist of college-aged students with a love for spreading God’s Word to kids in the outdoors. Many of the summer staffers attended and loved White Sulphur Springs in their youth and can’t wait to come back to pay it forward! Each head counselor completes training prior to the start of the summer in procedures, basic first aid, games and leading devotionals. Our counselor apprentices are either high schoolers or early college students and volunteer their time with the campers. They come with a desire to spread God’s Word and learn all they can about being a head counselor.
