The annual Eastern ROTC Retreat will encourage and edify ROTC cadets and midshipmen from across the eastern region, introducing non-Christians to Christ and motivating believers to have a vision for the military as a mission field as they prepare to commission and serve.

In addition to sessions led by CH(COL) Dave Bowlus, USA, the retreat also includes a junior officer panel, breakout sessions, free time activities, and fantastic meals in the Allegheny Mountains of Pennsylvania. All interested Army ROTC Cadets, Navy-Marine Corps ROTC Midshipmen, and Air Force ROTC Cadets in the Mid-Atlantic/Northeast/upper Southeast areas, along with their ministry group sponsors/mentors, are invited to attend.

Dr. Bowlus, born in Toledo, Ohio, was commissioned in the U.S. Army in May 1993 from the United States Military Academy. He went on to serve as Armor officer until God called him into the ministry while he was serving in the Republic of Korea. In 1998, Chaplain Bowlus resigned his commission to attend seminary at Alliance Theological Seminary.

Returning to active duty in 2002, Chaplain Bowlus has served in the 75th Ranger Regiment, the US Army Chaplain Center and School, the 101st Airborne Division (Air Assault), United States Forces Korea (USFK), United States Army Special Operations Command (USASOC), and US Forces Command (FORSCOM) at Fort Bragg, NC. He currently serves as the United States Military Academy (USMA) Chaplain at West Point, NY.

Dr. Bowlus has a Bachelor of Science from the United States Military Academy, a Master of Divinity from Alliance Theological Seminary, a Master of International Strategic Studies from the U.S. Army War College, and a Doctor of Ministry degree from Alliance Theological Seminary.

He and his wife Meridee have two children, Andrew (26) and Savannah (20).
