R&R Week #6 contains one of our sweet spots of the summer. You can choose between our full week R&R program with our speaker Pastor John Waldrop, or select to spend Friday through Sunday with Kurt and Donna Schosek. Kurt and Donna have a heart for grieving spouses. They both lost their spouse, one suddenly and one succumbing to a slow illness. Therefore each has a unique perspective on the grieving process as you walk through the valley of the shadow of death. You do not need to be a widow(er) to participate. Maybe you have a heart for ministry and have a friend you are walking with as they say good-bye to a loved one. You are able to select this option when you register for R&R Week #6.

Speaker Pastor John Waldrop, Topic: “Living as Exiles: Studies in 1 Peter

About the Topic: John has served as a missionary pastor for over twenty years in Europe and the Middle East. Currently he teaches at two seminaries in Manila, Philippines. He and his wife, Esther–both OCF “brats” who met and were married at White Sulphur Springs!–have five grown children and one grandchild.

About the Speaker: What does it mean to live as Christians in a non-Christian world? How can we be faithful and effective as Christ’s representatives in an increasingly secular–sometimes hostile–environment? The Apostle Peter’s letter to a group of Christian “exiles” in the Roman Empire shows us the way. This timeless beacon of hope gives us the inspiration and instruction we need to be “more than conquerors” in our troubled world today.

Speakers:  COL (Ret) Kurt and Donna Schosek, Topic: “Even Though … Yet I Will

About the Topic: “Even Though … Yet I Will” is designed to help those who have lost a spouse find hope in the Lord. In four sessions from Friday night to Sunday morning, we will journey from grief and lament to renewed joy and purpose in God’s plan. During these sessions we will share biblical and practical applications that continue to help us through this difficult journey.

About the Speakers: COL(Ret) Kurt and Donna Schosek are newlyweds who walked through the loss of a spouse. Donna lost her husband, Aaron, of 11 years suddenly in a motorcycle accident and Kurt lost his wife, Rebecca, of 27 years to a yearlong battle with cancer. The Lord graciously brought them together through a widow/widower support group. They both have a heart to walk alongside those who have lost their spouses in any season of life. Kurt retired from the Army after 24 years of service and Donna is a retired elementary school music teacher of 29 years. Combined they can field a baseball team with 9 adult children.

Horsemanship Day Camp is a great opportunity for kids (ages 8+) attending our Summer R&R program to learn more about horses. Our Wranglers teach aspiring equestrians basic horse anatomy, the essentials of riding equipment, techniques for tacking and grooming a horse, walking and trotting instructions for beginners, and then they’ll all hit the trails to gain real-world experience! Daily devotionals throughout the experience will focus on the lessons we can learn from one of God’s most majestic creatures.

A five-day traditional summer camp program with age-specific programs for rising 2nd-8th graders, Camp Caleb brings military youth into an authentic personal relationship with Jesus Christ, to strengthen their own family and peer relationships, and to prepare them for standing for Jesus Christ as teenagers.

A six-day program for rising 9th graders through recent high school graduates, Allegheny Outback! challenges teens to develop their very own personal knowledge of God by modeling Christ in real-life situations with plenty of adventure along the way.
